Brainstorming To a New Career Focus

A you in a rut trying to be creative on how to use your degree? One of my favorite brainstorming strategies is to simply internet search "What can I do with a ______ degree?"

You will be linked primarily to colleges around the country who have answered this question and then you will be able to build a list of alternative career ideas to research.

Following Up After the Interview

Alumni often wander if they should follow-up after an interview or if it will seem too desperate or aggressive. If you have not heard back by the date the interview committee told you, then by all means follow-up . You really have nothing to lose. Recently an alumni found herself in this situation and contacted me about what to do. After encouraging her to follow-up and even practicing some possible dialogue, she made the call. Fortunately she found out that she was still being considered and the process was just taking longer than they expected. The brief phone call certainly gave her increased confidence.
