Dan Parker, an Employee Relations Manager with Trane, has over 25 years of experience in Human Resources. He is frequently seen on campus helping with Career Center events such as Resumanias, Mock Interviews, Career Fairs, and the annual Last Minute Job Search workshop. Dan recently shared a list of resume tips based on his own personal likes and dislikes. Here are a few from the list:
- Do not list a lot of unsupported personal attributes such as "organized", "energetic", "good communicator" unless they can be supported by evidence of successful use.
- Use bullets, bold print, and varying methods of highlighting to make your resume easier to read.
- List Community Service/Volunteer Experience. It speaks well of the candidate.
- Always prepare a cover letter.
- Proofread. Proofread. Proofread.
Thanks Dan for sharing these tips.
